Salem Township Hospital
world class healthcareauxiliary

The Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary as it is presently known was formed in 1958 with 35 volunteer members.  There are currently 92 active and 13 associate members.  The Auxiliary has donated in total over 8300 hours during 2006.

The Auxiliary serves in the following five areas of the hospital:

  • Information Desk in the main lobby
  • Gift Shop in the main lobby
  • Information Desk in Patient Registration
  • Information Desk in Radiology
  • Assists Eye Surgery Patients

If someone is interested in becoming a volunteer, the Membership Chairman presents the name and information of the individual to the Auxiliary Board.  The individual is voted on and if accepted, arrangements are made for orientation and to begin formal training.

The Auxiliary is involved in many activities with the hospital including the Home Show, Wellness Events, Book Fair, Disaster Drills and any other projects that require volunteer assistance.

The Auxiliary provides scholarships to qualifying individuals desiring to work in areas of the hospital after completion of their studies.  The profits from the Gift Shop help fund the scholarships and purchase equipment or other needs of the hospital.

The Auxiliary Board meets once a month and all members are invited to attend quarterly meetings to gain knowledge of updates and requirements to be of service to the community.
